4 ways to get the most out of your free LinkedIn Premium trial
Sep 20, 2021Do you need LinkedIn premium to cold pitch on LinkedIn?
I got a question this week that asked:
I know I watched a video of yours talking about how you initially signed up for the free trial of Premium LI, but then you didn't even need to continue with the Premium. I'd love to know how best to use that Premium free 30 days! I want to take advantage of all 30 days, but I don't want to waste it, if that makes sense.
Where I stand on whether or not you should pay for LinkedIn:
No, you don’t need a Premium membership. But if you have the $60 to invest for a month or two, it can’t hurt.
BUT if you want to stick with the free trial, keep reading to learn how you can get the maximum result in 30 days.
How to make the most out of your LinkedIn premium trial
Step 1: Choose your niche and establish your online presence
Make sure when clients get your message and immediately go to your site, everything is polished. This includes your website, LinkedIn profile, and portfolio.
Step 2: Make a list of your ideal clients
You need to know who you’re going to reach out to ahead of time. You should know how to find your ideal clients so you can do it quickly without wasting time. Your best bet is to start building your list via a Google search.
Step 3: Have your cold pitch written out ahead of time
Starting each cold pitch message from scratch is time-consuming and nerve-wracking. When you know exactly how to structure a compelling cold-pitch message, you can write it and store it in a google doc to use again and again.
You MUST customize each cold message to your ideal client, but certain parts of your message will remain the same, and that’s where my free cold pitch template download comes in.
Step 4: Set daily activity goals ahead of time & stay consistent
The biggest mistake I see new freelancers make is sending a few messages here and there without an actual strategy. You MUST have a plan for how you’ll consistently use LinkedIn to land clients.
Before you begin your LinkedIn trial, write out daily or weekly goals. To create outreach goals, ask yourself the following questions:
- How many companies will you add to your list, and how many do you plan on contacting daily?
- How many contacts within each organization will you message? (sometimes it takes more than one!)
- How much time will you spend scrolling your feed looking for opportunities, and engaging
- How many messages and connection requests will send?
The bottom line on making the most out of your LinkedIn Premium trial
If you go hard on LinkedIn for 30 days, you may wind up like me and never have to actually purchase a Premium membership. To get this result, you have to go in with a plan:
- Make sure you have a clearly defined niche and set up your online presence correctly
- Prepare a list of your ideal clients to make your search more efficient.
- Write your cold pitch message ahead of time, leaving spaces for you to personalize them.
- Set daily activity goals and stay consistent to get responses and see results.
